When a hurricane passes, the winds may stop — but for many families, the rebuilding continues long after.

The community of Burnt Savanna, St. Elizabeth, experienced the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa. Homes were damaged, schools and churches were affected, and many families were left to pick up the pieces.

Against that backdrop, RSD Shipping Agency Jamaica Ltd., in partnership with the Miss Vannie Children Foundation, returned to the community with one simple purpose: to bring hope to our children as they prepared for a new school year.

Through our Back-to-School Treat and School Supplies Distribution, more than 75 school bags, along with school supplies and other essential back-to-school items, were distributed to children throughout the community.

But this was about more than bags, books and pencils.

It was about saying to every child:

Your circumstances do not determine your future.

Your dreams still matter.

Your education still matters.

And you have not been forgotten.

The occasion was made even more special with the recognition of K. Morris as the 2026 recipient of the RSD Shipping Managing Director’s Award for the 2026/2027 school year.

This award represents something very important to us at RSD Shipping — our belief that when we recognize potential, encourage excellence and invest in education, we are investing in the future of Jamaica.
